Bhel receives mega order from Adani Power worth Rs 3,500 crore.

On 6 June,2024 , shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) jumped 14.5% in the morning, hitting a high of Rs 292.35. This happened after the company received a big order worth Rs 3,500 crore from Adani Power to build a 1,600 MW thermal power plant in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The contract is to be executed is 35 months for the supply of unit-1 and 41 months for the unit-2. The contract was signed on June 5, 2024, for supplying equipment (Boiler, Turbine, Generator) and supervising the setup and start of a 2×800 MW power project using Supercritical Technology in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The boiler will be made at BHEL’s Trichy plant, and the turbine generator will be made at the Haridwar plant, according to the filing.

BHEL existing order book:

With this large order from Adani Power, BHEL’s total orders have increased, reaching Rs 1,08,618 crore as of December 31, 2023. This is 19% more than the same time last year. According to a presentation BHEL shared with investors in February, the company received orders worth Rs 36,048 crore from April to December in the fiscal year 2024. This is 137% higher than the Rs 15,232 crore of orders they received during the same period the previous year.
